Jason Cooper is an English drummer born on January 31, 1967. He is best known for his work with the band The Cure. Cooper was born in London, England, and he received his training in drumming at London’s Drumtech (the same institution where he now serves as a patron and visiting artist).

As the drummer for the band My Life Story, he was one of the first people the public noticed. After losing their former drummer, Boris Williams, in 1995, Cooper joined The Cure as their new drummer. Since the release of Wild Mood Swings, he has participated in the recording of all of the band’s studio albums. Additionally, he has appeared in the concert videos Trilogy, Festival 2005, and Anniversary 2018.

Cooper is also a film composer. He is most well-known for his work on the soundtrack for the horror/thriller film From Within, for which he and his co-composer Oliver Kraus received the prize for Best Original Soundtrack at the 2008 Solstice Film Festival. Kraus was also a co-composer on the score. On May 15, 2004, Cooper wed the woman he had been seeing for a long time, Allison.

The much-loved Welton had a serious heart attack in 2019 while on tour with The Cure. As a consequence of the incident, he passed dead a few days later in the hospital after being transported there. His passing was acutely felt by a significant number of people in the sector since he had been a crew member for a long time and was highly appreciated. Before wrapping off their performance at Rock en Seine on the night that Welton died away, the band’s lead vocalist, Robert Smith, gave a speech to the audience.

Drummer Jason Cooper of The Cure is participating in a charity bike ride in memory of the late crew member Paul ‘Ricky’ Welton. Unfortunately, a longtime member of the band’s crew had a heart attack when the band was on tour in 2019 and passed just a few days later. The musician from the band ‘Boys Doesn’t Cry’ wishes to pay respect to the fallen team member in some way. On June 19, Jason will participate in the London To Brighton Bike Ride, hosted by the British Heart Foundation and begins in Clapham Common in London and concludes on the seaside in Brighton, 54 miles away.

During an appearance on “BBC Radio 5 Live,” he said, “I’m riding the London to Brighton Bike Ride for the British Heart Foundation in memory of my dearly departed drum technician [Ricky], who passed away from a heart attack.” Ricky was a member of the band. We had a lot of laughs and good times together; he was such a joy to have on stage, and I knew I could always count on him. Ricky will be missed terribly.

Fourteen thousand cyclists are expected to participate in the event, which the British Heart Foundation (BHF) hopes will raise a total of £2.8 million. They donate millions of pounds to support life-saving research every year because they believe it to be a worthwhile cause.
While everything was going on, the London to Brighton Event Manager, Lee Sumner, thanked Jason for his zeal in taking on the challenge and helping raise awareness and finances.

He said, “Jason and The Cure have experienced first-hand the devasting consequences of heart and circulatory diseases with the death of their beloved member Ricky.” Ricky had been a member of The Cure for many years. The spaced-out and slowed-down version of the song that the former Oasis rocker released in 2022 included contributions from Robert Smith, lead singer for The Cure, and Jason Cooper, the band’s drummer. The song “Pretty Boy” was first announced as the lead single for Noel’s forthcoming album “Council Skies,” which will be released on June 2.

Robert Smith is not the only well-known figure in the music world to have contributed to the new album; Johnny Marr and The Pet Shop Boys have all collaborated on the record in some capacity. Former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr contributes guitar work on Pretty Boy, while the pair known as West End Girls has previously disclosed that they have been working on a remix for the album. The band’s frontman Neil Tennant told the Cambridge University students that the band had just completed a remix of Noel Gallagher. It’s always intriguing to see how different people collaborate.

According to Neil, he and keyboardist Chris Lowe are interested in collaborating with musicians who can make the West End Girls hitmakers “sound ten times better.” He said the goal was to collaborate with someone who made the other person sound ten times better. Because our songs have a lot of untapped potential, I would love to hear other talented vocalists perform them. As you grow older, you understand how music functions. You don’t know in the beginning, but at this point, we know a little bit.
