Tom Morga is not just a stuntman but also a stunt actor and a stunt coordinator. He holds the record for being the stunt actor and stuntman who has appeared in Star Trek the most. Between 1979 and 2005, he had roles in six full-length motion pictures and the first four television series of a spin-off franchise. Morga was born in the city of Burbank in the state of California. Between 1969 and 1974, he was employed as a smokejumper in Missoula, Montana, while pursuing his undergraduate degree. Morga made his first appearance on television due to his employment as a smokejumper. He was highlighted in an episode of the animal documentary television series Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom. This was Morga’s first television debut. In the episode, when he appeared, his crew put out a forest fire that threatened a herd of wild buffalo. Because of this encounter, he decided to pursue a career in stunt work.
In the 1970s, he launched his career in the stunt business and appeared as a performer in several live stunt performances, including the stunt show at the Universal Studios Tour. His first few films were Lucky Lady (1975), in which he played a henchman, and Airport ’77 (1977), in which he was a member of the Navy Seal Team deploying lift bags beneath the aircraft.
Both of these films were among his first. As seen on television, he served as the stunt double for Patrick Duffy in the television series The Man from Atlantis (1977-1978). Morga also played the role of Duffy’s double in a few episodes of the long-running soap opera Dallas. He went on to land parts in films such as the three-time Golden Globe-nominated Movie Movie (1978) and the first Star Trek feature film, Star Trek: The Motion Picture, in which he doubled for Spock actor Leonard Nimoy, among other things for Spock’s “spacewalk” into V’ger.
The television series Tenspeed and Brown Shoe (1980), which starred Ben Vereen and was organized by Dennis Madalone, featured Morga as an actor who doubled for Jeff Goldblum throughout the 1980s.
