Peyton Williams Manning born March 24, 1976, in New Orleans, Louisiana is a former American football quarterback who played in the National Football League for 18 seasons. Manning spent 14 seasons with the Indianapolis Colts and the last four with the Denver Broncos. He is the son of Archie Manning, a former New Orleans Saints quarterback, and Olivia Manning.

He is a senior citizen. Manning was drafted first overall by the Indianapolis Colts in 1998 and has started every game in his NFL career, missing only one year due to injury despite suffering serious injuries such as a broken jaw inflicted by defensive end Lorenzo Bromell.

In 2003, he shared the NFL MVP award with then-Tennessee Titans quarterback Steve McNair. Manning signed a $99.2 million contract for seven years with a $34.5 million signing bonus in 2004, making him the highest-paid player in NFL history at the time. Manning is also eligible for an additional $19 million in incentives under the terms of his contract.

Manning is referred to in scouting reports as a “pure” pocket passer rather than a “scrambler.” Manning is frequently compared to New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady among active quarterbacks. Manning is well-known for his frantic hand gestures and shouting prior to the play while calling out audibles, frequently stretching play preparation near the end of the play clock.
