Dorian Harewood is an American actor who is best known for his roles as Rev. Morgan Hamilton on 7th Heaven (1996–2003), Paul Strobber on Strike Force (1981–1982), and Jesse Owens in The Jesse Owens Story (1984). Harewood was the son of Emerson Macaulay and Estelle Olivia Harewood and was born on August 6, 1950, in Dayton, Ohio. His father worked both as a high school teacher and as a clerk at the post office.

Harewood was given the Theatre World Award for Most Promising Actor for his performance in the play Don’t Call Back. She urged Harewood to continue performing in serious parts when they were in a theatre performance along with Bette Davis, and Harewood cites Bette Davis as his mentor. In the film Against All Odds (1984), he played a football player, and in The Falcon and the Snowman (1985), he played an alcoholic employee who worked with Timothy Hutton (Sean Penn). After that, Harewood appeared as a war veteran in the 1987 film Full Metal Jacket directed by Stanley Kubrick.
