Zak Bagans

Paranormal investigator, TV host, and actor Zak Bagans has starred in a wide variety of media in his native America. His work as host of the Travel Channel show “Ghost Adventures” has brought him the most fame. After graduating from the University of Washington, Zack packed his bags and moved to Las Vegas.

Initially, he held a variety of jobs, including that of a wedding disc jockey, but he eventually settled on directing documentaries. Zak’s interest in the paranormal has grown after he saw the ghost of a suicide woman, and he’s started making a documentary about it. Zak’s last feature, titled “Ghost Adventures,” was made in 2004.

The Travel Channel is now the new home of one of the longest-running series in U.S. television history. Zak and his friends go out at night to haunted places in search of paranormal phenomena. Zak created ‘Paranormal Challenge’ and ‘Paranormal Paparazzi’ to cash in on the success of ‘Ghost Adventures. Zak has been investigating supposedly haunted items as a guest investigator on the Travel Channel show “Deadly Possessions” from 2016-2018.

Zak Bagans was born on April 5, 1977, to middle-class parents in Washington, D.C. His mother, Nancy Knapp, is an interior designer. In their family, Meredith is the older sibling and he is the younger brother. When Zak’s mother remarried, she got a divorce from his biological father and had Sky and Phil.

An avid student of the past, Zak graduated from Illinois’s Glenbard West High School in 1995. The transition to university life was challenging for him. He considered the potential challenges and decided against pursuing a career in filmmaking. Just after finishing high school, he enrolled at Western Michigan University. After eight months, he decided he wasn’t a good fit for the school and transferred to the Film and Television department at the University of Michigan.

Zak attended classes to strengthen his skills as a filmmaker. He moved to Las Vegas after graduating from MPI in order to pursue his interest in documentary filmmaking. As expected, he started off a bit unsteady. His initial attempt at making a documentary film was shelved due to a lack of both interest and funding in the topic.

At first, he didn’t believe it, but then something happened that made him reconsider. He says a conversation with the spirit of a woman who committed suicide changed his life. After that, he decided to devote the rest of his life to investigating the supernatural, and he put together the cast and crew for the film “Ghost Adventures.” Zak started production on the indie film “Ghost Adventures” in 2004. Sadly, the film was never released because of a lack of funding and other issues. In 2006, 4Reel productions came on board to make a documentary for it. Three people, Aaron Goodwin, Nick Groff, and Zak, set out to record their experiences at supposedly haunted locales in and around Nevada.

Having debuted on Syfy in July 2007, the documentary has acquired a large following since then.  The show’s initial season gained such popularity that it was expanded into a full series and debuted in December 2008.

During the course of filming the documentary, the team experienced several paranormal phenomena for themselves. Zak believes he was scratched on the back by “bad spirits” during the filming of the fourth season, and that this happened during a struggle.

Many people who are interested in the paranormal have criticized Zak and his crew for their harsh methods of dealing with the “bad spirits.” Zack clarified that his group does not use such harsh methods on all the ghosts. Evil spirits can be lured to their human victims by those who practice witchcraft.

Zak made his presenting debut in 2011 for the ‘Ghost Adventures spinoff, ‘Paranormal Challenge. Zak has been able to pit each week some of the most skilled ghost hunters in the country against one another because of his unique program concept. Those who took part were obligated to spend the night in a supposedly haunted location around the country. The low ratings caused the show’s cancellation after the first season.

In 2012, he hosted the hit newsroom show “Paranormal Paparazzi.” Zak interviewed several paranormal investigators, who shared stories about their experiences investigating haunted locations across the United States, including some of the most infamous haunts.
