American singer-songwriter Luke Combs rose to fame after the release of his first proper album, This One’s for You, on Columbia Nashville on June 2, 2017. Combs’ first five singles from the album all peaked at number one on Billboard’s “Country Airplay” chart, making him the first singer-songwriter to accomplish this feat.

After Luke Combs was forced to cancel his performance at the forthcoming CMT Music Awards due to his COVID-19 diagnosis, his wife Nicole Hocking Combs gave an update on his condition. On Saturday, March 26, Combs’ wife took to Instagram Stories to respond to questions from fans.

The expectant woman continued, “Around here, we’re all happy, healthy, and negative. She continued by saying that the “Doin’ This” wouldn’t have known he had the rare coronavirus if he hadn’t been tested for the awards ceremony.

A CMT spokeswoman told Music Mayhem this week that the North Carolina-born country singer has COVID-19 and is currently quarantined, so she will miss Thursday’s recording of the awards show (Mar. 24).

He feels terrible that he can’t see everyone. Combs and Kane Brown were scheduled to pre-record their performance for the CMT Music Awards event. Ticket distributor 1iota confirmed via email that Old Dominion would be replacing Combs. In the email, it is stated that “In Luke’s absence, Old Dominion will join Kane Brown for special musical performances for a TV taping.”
