Kanye West

Kanye West is an American rapper, producer, singer, author, filmmaker, performance artist, and fashion designer. He was born Kanye Omari West on June 8, 1977, in Atlanta, Georgia, but is more often known by his stage name, Kanye West. West is a winner of many Grammy Awards. In the early 1990s, West started producing beats and rapping in his birthplace of Chicago, Illinois. At the time, he was a member of the rap duo Go Getters, which he created with fellow Chicago locals GLC and Really Doe.

Later on, he became well-known all across the country as a result of the work he did in New York, where he started producing songs for singers such as Jay-Z, Twista, Mase, Talib Kweli, and Alicia Keys. West’s method of music creation often incorporates pitched-up voice samples, most frequently taken from soul songs, with his drums and other instruments. Beanie Sigel’s “The Truth” was the first song he produced for a big label. The song “This Can’t Be Life,” which was included on Jay-album Z’s The Dynasty: Roc La Familia was his first major release to use his signature voice sampling approach.

West has said that he sped up the drum rhythm from Dr Dre’s Plosive in order to utilize it as a substitute for his own drums on This Can’t Be Life. West has said that the producer for the Wu-Tang Clan, RZA, had an influence on him in terms of his style. West has also stated many times that Wu-Tang rappers Ghostface Killah and Ol’ Dirty Bastard are among his all-time favourites. Said Kanye West: “Wu-Tang? This is something that I often discuss with my close friends… In terms of the movement, we believe Wu-Tang Clan had one of the most significant influences.

From lingo to modes of clothing, sketches, and the samples themselves. RZA has been using a style fairly dissimilar to the one I use. It wasn’t until 2004 that he finally managed to release his first solo album, The College Dropout, on Roc-A-Fella Records. Prior to this, he had been rejected by a number of record labels on the grounds that they didn’t believe he was a marketable hip-hop artist. The album was met with praise from music critics, earning 10 nominations for Grammy Awards and winning both Album of the Year and Best Rap Album honours. It was also credited with establishing West’s signature style, which consisted of “wordplay” and extensive sampling of soul and R&B tunes from the 1970s.

West, who is not one to rest on his laurels, put in a two-million-dollar investment and recruited a string orchestra to assist him with his most recent project, Late Registration (2005). In spite of the fact that West lacked expertise in hip-hop production, he worked along with Jon Bryon to contribute to the development of the sound of the album. The album, much like its predecessor, was met with tremendous praise, and it went on to win the Grammy Award for Best Rap Album for a second time.

Just days after the release of his second studio album, West began embroiled in a major controversy after going off-script during a Hurricane Katrina broadcast, proclaiming “George Bush doesn’t care about black people,” which Bush claimed was “one of the most disgusting moments of my presidency.” West was no stranger to controversy, such as storming out at the 2004 American Music Awards after not receiving Best New Artist. However, just days after the release of his second studio album West began embroiled in a major controversy after going.

Again stirring up controversy was Kanye West’s appearance on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine in January 2006, donning a crown of thorns for the photo shoot. West wanted to make sure that the songs on his third album could be used more successfully while he was playing in stadiums, so he focused on producing those songs. West took musical influence from The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Bob Dylan, and Johnny Cash for the album Graduation, which is the third and eventually last chapter in his Dropout Bear series.

Due to the fact that both of their albums were released on the same day, he and 50 Cent got into a friendly competition to see which of their future albums would wind up selling more copies. This competition took place in the run-up to the release of the album. In the end, West was able to outsell Curtis by a significant margin in the first week of the album’s release, selling 957,000 copies. The main song for the album, “Stronger,” used a sample by Daft Punk and became West’s third number-one hit on the Billboard 200 chart. Many people believe that since Kanye West “won” over 50 Cent, gangsta rap will no longer be the most popular kind of hip-hop music and will thus “die.”

After the passing of his mother, Dona West, and the breakup of his engagement to his long-term partner Alexis Phifer, West decided to abandon his initial plan to release a fourth album entitled Good Ass Job. Instead, he shocked his fans by releasing 808s and Heartbreak, which featured a lot of autotune singing, extensive use of the TR-808 drum machine, themes of love, loss, and loneliness, and very little rapping.

It got significantly more mixed reviews than his previous efforts, although many reviewers credit 808s and Heartbreak as the impetus for a new generation of rappers, most especially Drake, owing to its topics which were unusual in mainstream hip-hop. 808s and Heartbreak were released in 2008. West’s grief seemed to lead to a spiral out of control, which culminated in him storming on stage at the 2009 Video Music Awards to interrupt Taylor Swift’s award acceptance speech and proclaim that Beyoncé deserved the award instead, a move that is infamous in pop culture and was vilified by the entire world in the aftermath. West’s actions led to Swift being awarded the award for Video of the Year instead of Beyoncé.

After this, West retreated from the public spotlight, and his forthcoming tour with Lady Gaga was cancelled as a result. The disgraced West, who was referred to as a “jackass” by President Obama, seemed to have a great deal of work to do in order to return to his former glory, but he was about to start on what many critics believe to be the finest run of his career. West hunkered down in Hawaii for a few months and toiled almost nonstop to craft what many people believe to be his masterpiece. The success of West’s fifth studio album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, which was released in November 2010 and received glowing reviews from music critics, helped to solidify his return.

Dark Fantasy follows a maximalist philosophy and deals with themes of stardom and luxury, which is in sharp contrast to his prior work, which emphasized a minimalist sound. The album included the worldwide smash song “All of the Lights,” as well as the Billboard chart-toppers “Power,” “Monster,” and “Runaway,” the latter of which served as the soundtrack of a short film with the same name. During this same period, West began the free music program G.O.O.D. Fridays on his website. This program offered a free download of previously unheard songs every Friday of the week. A number of these tracks were ultimately featured on the album.

Dark Fantasy eventually achieved platinum certification in the United States, although its exclusion from consideration for Album of the Year at the 54th Grammy Awards was seen as a “snub” by a number of different media publications. After performing a headline show at Coachella in 2011 that The Hollywood Reporter called “one of the greatest hip-hop sets of all time,” Kanye West and Jay-Z released their joint studio album Watch the Throne. Watch the Throne is one of the rare albums published by a big label in the Internet era that managed to escape a leak. This was accomplished by utilizing a sales strategy that saw the digital version of the album released weeks before its physical counterpart.

Niggas in Paris achieved the best chart position of any song from this album, reaching a high of number five on the Billboard Hot 100. Cruel Summer is a compilation album that was published by West in 2012. The album is a collection of music from artists that are signed to West’s record label GOOD Music. Cruel Summer resulted in the release of four songs, two of which, Mercy and Clique, peaked within the top twenty on the Billboard Hot 100 list. In addition, West served as the director of the film of the same name, which had its world debut at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival in a screening pavilion with a custom pyramidal design and seven screens.

It was in the living room of West’s own apartment at a Paris hotel where the recording sessions for his sixth solo album got their start at the beginning of 2013. In an effort to “undermine the commercial,” he once again gathered his trusted associates and made an effort to integrate Chicago drill, dancehall, acid house, and industrial music. West’s perfectionist inclinations prompted him to call producer Rick Rubin fifteen days before the album’s release date in order to strip down the sound of the song in favour of a more minimalist approach. West’s primary source of inspiration was architecture.

The first marketing for his sixth album consisted of live television performances and visual projections of the album’s songs that were shown all around the globe. West’s sixth studio album, titled Yeezus, was released on June 18, 2013, and was met with acclaim from music reviewers. It became the sixth time in a row that the rapper has debuted at number one. The first single from the album, “Black Skinhead” was sent to radio stations via Def Jam in July of 2013. Kanye West made the announcement that he will be headlining his first solo tour in five years, to promote the album Yeezus, on September 6, 2013, and that fellow American rapper Kendrick Lamar would be joining him along the road.

West said that he was working on and recording his second studio album in November of 2013. Rick Rubin and Q-Tip were going to be the album’s producers at one point. On December 31, 2014, Kanye released a song named “Only One” featuring Paul McCartney. Additionally, Kanye collaborated with McCartney on the Rihanna tune “FourFiveSeconds,” which was released in January 2015. On February 15, 2015, Kanye West made an appearance on the Saturday Night Live 40th Anniversary Special to premiere a new song titled “Wolves.” The song featured Sia Furled and Vic Mensa.

Another song, named “All Day,” was released on March 2, 2015, and it featured Paul McCartney and Allan Kingdom of Rheophiles London once again. Kanye West headlined the Glastonbury Festival in the United Kingdom in June of the same year, which resulted in a great deal of controversy, including a petition with 135,000 signatures against his appearance. This led to West proclaiming that he was “the greatest living rock star on the planet” towards the end of his set, and the performance received a mixed reaction from fans and critics, due to the controversy surrounding his appearance.

In September 2015, West gave a two-night performance at the Hollywood Bowl during which he played the entirety of his album 808s and Heartbreak. The show, which featured over 70 dancers, a 60-person orchestra, and special guests such as Kid Cudi and Mr Hudson, was met with acclaim and garnered a lot of positive feedback. At the beginning of the new year, West released his album titled “Facts.” Before altering the title of his next album to ‘SWISH’ and stating that it will be released on February 11th, West had previously indicated that the album would be named ‘So Help Me God.’ SWISH is the new title.

Both “Real Friends” and “No More Parties in LA,” which he collaborated on with Kendrick Lamar, were released by him in January 2016. In addition to renaming the album once again to “Waves,” West became involved in several Twitter controversies in the lead-up to the release of the album. One of these controversies was with the rapper Wiz Khalifa, who suggested that West had stolen the idea of the wave from other artists. West also appeared to diss Kim Kardashian, but it turned out that this was just a misunderstanding over the use of the letter “KK.”

West once again renamed the album only days before it was set to be released, this time to “[album artist=Kanye west]The Life of Pablo.” He unveiled the record at Madison Square Garden on February 11, but the release was pushed back a few days. West debuted the album on February 14 as he was performing on Saturday Night Live. West originally said that the album would be available only via Tidal; however, it was eventually made available through other streaming services; nonetheless, physical distribution of the album has not yet been announced.

Even after the album was launched, West continued to make changes to the record’s mixing and production. As a result, the album was updated many times, most recently with the addition of the song “Saint Pablo” in June of 2016. West had also made public his intentions to release an album in the summer of 2016, titled “Turbo Graf 16,” which was based on the video game console from the 1990s. However, the album never materialized, although West did release a single called Champions, which was thought to be from the upcoming G.O.O.D. Music album “Cruel Winter.”

The music video for “Famous” was released the same month, and it included naked wax figurines of famous people including Kanye West, Kim Kardashian, Taylor Swift, Donald Trump, Chris Brown, Rihanna, and Bill Cosby. George W. Bush was also featured in the video. West kicked out his grandiose Saint Pablo Tour in August of 2016, which included a movable stage that was hung from the ceiling. As a result of the violent theft of Kim’s jewellery in Paris in October, West was forced to cut short a concert and postpone gigs that were scheduled to follow it.

In the subsequent performances, West abruptly cancelled events, went on lengthy, convoluted rants against other musicians like Jay Z and Beyoncé, among others, and made provocative political declarations, including claims that implied he supports Donald Trump. West called off the remainder of the tour on November 21st, 2016, and checked himself into a hospital because he had not slept in over a week and was very dehydrated.

After this, West disappeared from social media, and he didn’t reappear until 11 months later, when he posted a series of tweets that included many deep thoughts and the announcement that he would be releasing two albums in June 2018: one would be a solo album that would include seven tracks, and the other would be a collaboration with Kid Cudi that would come out on June 8.

After hosting a total of three listening parties, Kanye finally made his highly anticipated tenth studio album, titled Dona, available for purchase on August 29, 2021, via GOOD Music and Def Jam Recordings. Atlanta, Georgia, is where West began his life. According to Hey Mama, his parents split when he was just three years old, and he relocated to Chicago, Illinois with his mother when they settled the divorce. His father, Ray West, was a member of the Black Panther party in the past and was one of the first black photojournalists to work at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He is a Christian counsellor at this point in his life.

Before she passed away, Dr Dona West, Kanye’s mother, worked as an English Professor at Clark Atlanta University and as the Chair of the English Department at Chicago State University. After she retired, she took on the role of Kanye’s manager. After moving to Chicago, he was nurtured in a family that belonged to the upper middle class, and he received his secondary education at Polaris High School in the nearby suburb of Oak Lawn, Illinois.

After getting his art education at the American Academy of Art in Chicago, Kanye West enrolled in Chicago State University for a while, but he ultimately left school due to his poor academic performance and in order to focus on his music career instead. West worked as a producer for local musicians while he was still a student, contributing his talents, for example, to the first album of the rapper Grav. Later in his career, he became famous for producing successful songs for big hip-hop and R&B musicians. Some of these artists include Jay-Z, Talib Kweli, Cameron, Paul Wall, Common, Mobb Deep, Jermaine Dupri, Scarface, The Game, Alicia Keys, Janet Jackson, and John Legend, among others.

According to the lyrics of his song “Last Call” as well as the credits of Nas’s album “Poppa Was a Playa,” he also “ghost-produced” for his former instructor Deric Angelettie. Kanye was married to Kim Kardashian. They were blessed with four children: two girls who were given the names North (2013) and Chicago (2018), as well as two males who were given the names Saint (2015) and Psalm (2019). In the year 2021, Kardashian began the divorce process.
