Cooper shared a flat with James Corden, his co-star in The History Boys and Starter, for a decade, until Corden and his wife, Julia Carey, chose to start a family of their own. Cooper and Corden were friends for a long time. Colleague Cooper was in charge of introducing Corden to Julia, whom he had known for years and who was working at Save the Children when he and Corden dropped by one evening.
