Domhnall Gleeson is an Irish actor, screenwriter, and short film director who has worked in a variety of genres. He is the son of actor Brendan Gleeson, with whom he has collaborated on a number of films and theatre productions over the course of his career. He graduated with honors from the Dublin Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Arts in Media Arts.

Gleeson was born in Dublin, Ireland, as the eldest of four sons, and grew up there. He grew up in Malahide, County Dublin, as the eldest son of Mary (née Weldon) and actor Brendan Gleeson. He is the youngest of three sons. He has three brothers: Fergus, Brian (who is also an actor), and Rory (who is also an actor). He went to Malahide Community Student, where he appeared in school productions of Grease and King Lear, among other things.
Gleeson went on to receive a Bachelor of Arts in Media Arts from the Dublin Institute of Technology, which he eventually completed. Gleeson currently resides in Dublin, where he was born.
