Her students at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco included actor Steven Schub (lead singer of ska band The Fenwicks) and actress Teri Hatcher. But we, too, are human. It’s a mystery to me, based on my own life experiences and what I’ve witnessed, why some people can simply move on from traumatic experiences, particularly in childhood, while others are paralyzed by them.
I just don’t understand how or why that is. There is love for your parents, family, spouse, partner, and friends, but nothing compares to the nature of your connection with your child. It has its own personality, and it’s so serious and powerful that it’s a prism through which I see everything.
