Vlahos appeared in an episode of the 2016 docudrama Barbarians Rising, a global co-production for The History Channel. He also played the Romanian philosopher and mathematician Maurice Solovine in an episode of Genius, the National Geographic Channel’s first scripted series.  Vlahos starred in Max Gill’s La Ronde, a modernized, gender-neutral version of Arthur Schnitzler’s play, from February 11 to March 11, 2017. A four-person cast played the ten characters chosen at random onstage each night by a roulette wheel.

Vlahos played Hamlet in the 2017 Big Finish Productions audio drama Hamlet. Alexander Vlahos (born 30 July 1988) is a Welsh actor, writer, and director best known for his role as Philippe, Duke of Orléans, in the Canal+ television series Versailles. Vlahos took over as Mordred from Asa Butterfield in the BBC One drama Merlin in 2012. Infancy Vlahos was born in Tumble, Carmarthenshire before moving to Llantrisant, Mid Glamorgan. He is the son of a Greek father and a Welsh mother, and he speaks both Welsh and English.

From the age of eight to the age of eighteen, he played ice hockey. His passion for the sport stems from watching the Mighty Ducks as a child, and he remains a huge fan of the media franchise. He studied acting at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff, graduating in 2009.

He also appeared in the films Pen Talar, The Indian Doctor, and Bright Lights in 2010. In 2012, he was cast as Private Keena in Privates, a mini-series about conscripts in the National Service set in the 1960s, for which he shaved his head. He also played Mordred in Merlin series five, a role originally played by Asa Butterfield in the first two series.

From 2012 to 2016, he portrayed Dorian Gray in Big Finish Productions audio series The Confessions Of Dorian Gray.  He also wrote one of the episodes, “The Mayfair Monster,” which was released in October 2013, as well as the audio play, HMS Surprise, for the Bernice Summerfield box set New Frontiers, which was released in April 2013.  Vlahos debuted in Fortune’s Fool at The Old Vic on December 6, 2013. Lucy Bailey directed Mike Poulton’s adaptation of Turgenev’s play, which stars Iain Glen and Richard McCabe.

Since 2015, he has played Louis XIV’s brother, Philippe I, Duke of Orléans, in the Franco-Canadian historical television series Versailles, which depicts life at the French court. series 2 was filmed in early 2016 and explores Philippe’s lighter side, marking the first time Vlahos has portrayed a rather light-hearted character for an extended period of time. On September 14, 2016, producer Claude Chelli confirmed that Versailles had been renewed for a third season, which began filming in April 2017. Vlahos confirmed in March 2018 that the third season would also be the final one for Versailles.
