Aja originally revealed her pregnancy in March, explaining she’d had two prior losses. She posted on Instagram at the time, “I just can’t begin to explain the depth of our enormous pleasure to be welcome a baby into our family,” referring to the unborn child as her “beautiful little rainbow baby.”

During an interview with PEOPLE earlier this month, the L’Oréal Paris spokesmodel expressed her desire to become a mother. “Right now, I’m about to embark on the most significant endeavor of my life: giving birth to this child,” King said.

“I’m very glad that I was able to conceive and carry this pregnancy to term, and I’m praying for a healthy and joyful delivery.”

“This summer, I’m looking forward to experiencing life as a mother and discovering all the mysteries of parenting… fingers crossed,” King said, adding that she’s also excited to reconcile with loved ones after a year in captivity. “I want for that feeling of freedom again, to be able to go about with my kid without the same sense of dread.”

Even before confirming her pregnancy, the actress was able to shoot her most recent part in Boxing Day. “Working on a film in the early months of my pregnancy seemed like a gift,” King said.

“I was scared I wouldn’t be able to do this project since my morning sickness had just recently subsided, as well as the fact that I hadn’t told anybody about my pregnancy yet, and being pregnant on set during a pandemic sounded terrible,” she said. “But it all came together in this really beautiful manner, and I’m so glad I was able to be a part of it.”

In the film, King plays an American lady who goes to London with her fiancé for Christmas to meet his quirky British-Caribbean family for the first time, putting their love to the test. The film is based on the life of Aml Ameen, the writer, director, and actor who portrays her soon-to-be husband.
