It may feel lovely while you lather up, but all you end up with is chapped skin and a terrible feeling of dread, much like a comedy. I can tell you right now that stand-up comedy isn’t glamorous. People are used to seeing superstars on the red carpet with their lips glossed up like backup dancers in a Gucci Mane video. Celebrities with a vicious cowlick in line at Starbucks or wandering through the Detroit airport with a four-alarm hangover, moaning like a zombie on the quest for brains are less common sightings. This is what life on the road is like: inedible room service, broken gym equipment, screaming infants next door, and a never-ending parade of farting Morning Zoos.

It’s not for the faint of heart, and it’s not for people who don’t find fart sounds amusing. It’s a comedy set in the workplace. And, although all of the characters are extreme and are spies who have murdered people, are all inebriated, and are sexually unscrupulous, it’s a dynamic that everyone recognizes. The program does not talk down to or undervalue its listeners. It’s quite intelligent and literary, and it doesn’t presume that the viewer would understand the allusions.
